I wonder if there is a psychologist out there that studies a
Or well maybe I don't want to know the
results of such a study.
I do know I have a mad, crazy addiction to background fabrics.
I love scrappy quilts and the more backgrounds
I can use the happier I am.
Many years ago during one of our moves,
I had all my fabrics
in assorted black plastic bags.
Once the move happened and I was ever so neatly
arranging my fabrics on bookcases, I had no lights.
EGADS! All my light fabrics had been
mysteriously taken to Goodwill,
supposedly!
Even though the disappearing black plastic bag
has tormented me for years I have
amassed quite a collection of lights.
So keeping my promise to de-stash what will not fit,
I will have several bundles of
giveaways that will be backgrounds throughout
the rest of the month.
Here's the low down.
To celebrate National Sewing Month,
I am going to have a Giveaway on my blog
every WEEK DAY.
It is going to be quick and simple.
I will announce the winner and the next giveaway
every weekday morning at 6:00 am central time.
Today's giveaway is an assortment of
100%, first quality whites, cremes and tans. Some fat quarters
but mainly hunks of yardage.
100%, first quality whites, cremes and tans. Some fat quarters
but mainly hunks of yardage.
None of them have been pre-washed.
They need a good home.
It will be a random drawing and I will ship at the end of each week.
I will consolidate shipments if you win more than once.
I am only going to be able to ship in the contiguous 48 states
and I must be able to contact you via e-mail.
AND the winner of Sept. 5th's giveaway is...

Love brown. My living room is done in shades of brown thanks to a wall papered in old book pages. I think it needs a brown quilt to be completely happy. :) Thanks for the chance!

ReplyDeleteIt sounds as if you have undertaken quite a project, in ridding yourself of unused fabric. Good for you - I'm sure it will feel good when all is done.
ReplyDeleteMy - what a lovely group of backgrounds! I've been trying to add variety to my lights all summer. Sometimes it is a challenge!

ReplyDeleteJayne
I think I would still be bothered by a missing bag of fabric taken to Goodwill!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I would want the results of a study on my fabric obsession, either...but I justify it because I am creating things...
Funny that you buy backgrounds...I tend to buy the attention grabbing fabrics and have a hole where the backgrounds should be. This would fill that gap nicely! Great giveaways....thank you
ReplyDeleteO' my -- those fabrics look just like 'Autumn'! My favorite month.
ReplyDeleteSuch a nice idea, I would love to give your fabric a good home.
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain at "misplacing" a bag of lights in your move. This last move, we used only boxes. I was afraid of this happening with our stuff. Doing a swap in October with sewing friends. Would be fun to include your fabrics. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI can't even begin to imagine losing a garbage bags full of fabric...ugh. But then again, it did give you an excuse to do some fabric shopping.
ReplyDeleteLots of great backgrounds...I especially like that last background with the baseball bats.
These are even more beautiful than the browns! How can you bear to part with them?? These would be beautiful in my clamshell quilt! Thank you for the wonderful giveaways!
ReplyDeleteI've only made a few quilts and they are scrappy quilts and I never have enough light backgrounds. I will give them a good home! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteKathy C
I can always use light backgrounds. My stash of these is rather small compared to the mediums and darks. That's probably because I use them all the time. Thank you for your generosity.
ReplyDeleteAgain with the earth tones! I am lovin it!
ReplyDeleteCan I get in the line-up for this one too? You need lights to make those colours pop, and you certainly can't have too many. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteWonderful! Like you and browns, I have a thing for lights. What a wonderful addition to my collection. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLove lights! Can't be without them.
ReplyDeleteNot to be corny but remember the song that begins with "You light up my world..."
Pam
EE Gaads, taken to Goodwill? I seem to never have the right amount of lights OR tans....so I would love to win this.
ReplyDeleteThank you for doing such a great give away.
Are we the same person? I love using as many backgrounds as I can in a scrappy quilt! More is better, I always say!
ReplyDeleteI would love to have these backgrounds. Always need background fabric. Have a great weekend and thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteMary
Never have enough lights as I tend to go to the darker colors. They would be a great addition to a quilt.
ReplyDeleteI've been wanted to try something low volume...this would be perfect. Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteI never have enough light fabrics in my stash, I'm not sure why. I would still be so crushed over the missing black bag of light fabric. Thanks for such a fun giveaway! ;->
ReplyDeleteI really need these tones for the quilt I am working on right now. Thanks for the chance
ReplyDeleteI have been needing some lights fro awhile. I use them a lot in the scrappy quilts I make and I am really running low. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI don't have enough lights in my stash. Would love the chance to win these.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win the lights as everybody needs more variety in their stash to build great scrappy quilts
ReplyDeleteWow! What a great give away. I would love a chance to win.
ReplyDeleteHow did you know I needed these colors for my newest quilt project! And I sympathize with your loss of fabric - I think it has happened to many of us when we move (the elf comes in becaue we have too much).
ReplyDeleteAs a new quilter, my stash is extremely "light" on light-colored fabrics. I need more contrast in my life and in my quilts. That stack would definitely help "lighten" my heart.
ReplyDeleteSorry, couldn't resist the punnies.... :o)
Creams & tans ! How yummy ! I would love to make a prim quilt with these ! Thanks !
ReplyDeleteI love background fabrics too, but somehow it's the big bold focus prints that always seem to end up in my cart. I could definitely use some backgrounds, and those are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThese sound great! Fingers crossed I am lucky!
ReplyDeleteI love background fabrics too -- there's just something about them that always sucks me in. :D
ReplyDeleteThanks for a chance to win a few more!
I don't really need any more fabric but who doesn't love a give away?
ReplyDeleteLove the colors. Congratulations to madrekarin on her win.
ReplyDeleteWhat a tempting picture. It's terrible too be such a fabric lover but I just wanted to reach thru the screen and go thru your material. Never can have enough lights.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! Whites and creams are always what I run out of first. These would have a great home in a scrappy Texas Star project I'm currently working on. Thanks for the opportunity!
ReplyDeleteemily@thecaffeinatedquilter.com
I'm horrible at collecting backgrounds and always wish I had a better stash - here's my chance! Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of getting a bag of light fabrics. I particularly love tone-on-tone whites and creams. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteSome quilter probably fainted at the Goodwill store when that fabric of yours was put out for sale! Maybe it won't haunt you as much thinking that someone made some beautiful quilts or much needed clothes with your black bag of happiness! :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win some lovely neutral fabrics.
ReplyDeletewish I could find a beautiful bag of great fabric at Goodwill....
ReplyDeleteNever enough lights for a great mix!

So sorry to hear about your "Goodwill" mishap. My sister did the same thing, she gathered up clothes for Goodwill and discovered later that months later she had also gathered up a Halloween quilt that I had made for her. Opps. You can never have enough background fabrics!! Good luck with your destashing.
ReplyDeleteOh NO, I'd never put my stash in garbage bags. That would be way too confusing for my DH, he'd throw them away for sure. On one move I sent him back for the last load and he burned all my Craft Magazines. He still hasn't lived that one down.
ReplyDeleteSomebody was sure lucky to get to Goodwill that day! And someone will be very lucky to win this bundle. Very nice!
ReplyDeleteI agree - the more backgrounds the better! I'd be very happy to give these fabrics a really good home.
ReplyDeleteLovely backgrounds indeed! I have begin such a stash as well. I used to buy as needed but 'having on hand' living out as far a we do works much better!!! Besides that sounds better than stash or hoarding...having fabric on hand....;-)haha!
ReplyDeleteLola
One woman's stash is another woman's treasure.
ReplyDeleteI would use the lights for scrap quilts too. Thanks so much for the chance to win them! Yvonne
I don't think you can have too many lights. In fact, I have made a quilt using only lights and it's really pretty.
ReplyDeleteI could really use some background fabrics in my stash!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win.
Lights are so versatile for backgrounds of blocks. They can really make the block pattern stand out. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI started learning to quilt a couple of months ago, and I am in LOVE. My husband even helped me turn our spare room into a craft room for my very slow growing stash. I have some great ideas for a the jelly rolls I've gotten so far, but no stash of background fabrics to pull from. I would absolutely appreciate a chance to win such a generous and amazing treasure as you've got going on today. Thank you so very much!
ReplyDeleteHappy to provide a good home to all fabric.
ReplyDeletelove those colors and would be glad to give them a new home!!!!
ReplyDeletelooks like some of my favorite colors, thanks for the chance
ReplyDeleteThanks for chance...neutrals are not very fun to by, therefore I have very few! It is a buying goal of mine to purchase more neutrals.
ReplyDeleteOh the unknown! My house flooded about six years ago and I know there were things that got misplaced, thrown out, or lost but it happens and what do you do?!
ReplyDeleteI love a good background too!
I try to limit my stash to just one dresser, so I frequently make scrap quilts. I'm currently making a scrappy nine patch, so your selection would fit in well.
ReplyDeleteFantastic! Please choose me! I love all fabrics and trying hard to stock up! Thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your give-away. You are too generous!
ReplyDeleteI'd just love a selection of lights. I'm working on a large, scrappy, value quilt just now and realize I'm needing lots more lights.
No Lisa, thank you for being so generous to us.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Thanks for the opportunity, Lissa!
ReplyDeleteAlways need lights for backgrounds-greatgiveaway Lois
ReplyDeleteNever have enough background lights!
ReplyDeleteNothing like using the same light background to unify scrappy blocks...THANKS for the opportunity!
ReplyDeleteRuth
Love these fabrics, because they will fit in anywhere. Thanks for the opportunity at a give-a-way!!
ReplyDeleteI love lights more than any other fabrics - and I use them up much faster, too!
ReplyDeleteSeems like there are never enough lights. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteSo excited about this event!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about the missing black bag...yeesh!
ReplyDeleteI love lights and could always use more background fabric!
Thanks for the chance to win :)
So much fun! Love background fabrics. Can never get enough lights. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThose are beautiful. Backgrounds are what I need most in my stash! Thank you for the generous opportunity you are giving all of us. Kathleen
ReplyDeleteOne can never have enough fabric!!
ReplyDeleteDonna
How generous of you. My new southwestern home being built would look unbelievable and cozy with a quilt in the great room made with those colors. How great would that look. The sandstone outside blends so well with these colors. Then all I would need is a pop of color. I'm sold.
ReplyDeleteI love your style Lissa. I'd love to enhanced stash with your background fabric.
ReplyDeleteLet there be light!
ReplyDeleteI am cleaning out my craft room now, and have made some space!
ReplyDeleteOhhhh nooo, a donation to the Goodwill? Argh! That would be tough to get over. Hopefully a quilter needing great backgrounds picked it up and really appreciated your selections.
ReplyDeleteSo yummy. I'd love to win. Have a great weekend
ReplyDeleteI've been quilting for three years, mainly kits. Recently I have become obsessed with scrap quilts only to realize I NEED background fabrics to make that happen. Winning your giveaway would be a big step forward on that journey. Thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteI love backgrounds too. Thanks for being so generous with your de-stashing project!
ReplyDeleteThese are so pretty! How can you part with them? Never mind, if you didn't we wouldn't have the chance to own them! :P
ReplyDeleteSandy A
This has been so much fun, your randomness and your great piles of yummy fabric. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteBackground/Neutrals are not something I often stash but are so necessary. Thanks for the awesome giveaways!
ReplyDeleteI try to buy backgrounds, but those novelty call out to me! Lol.i would be so heart broken if some of my stash went to Goodwill, sorry that happened!
ReplyDeleteI tend to buy fabric on impulse, and lights are not usually things that catch my eye that want to come home with me. I have been trying to do better as i want to use them in scrap quilts.
ReplyDeleteOh wow - this would be perfect! What a pretty stack.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win some great neutrals! I love scrappy too!
ReplyDeleteI love all fabrics of all colors and would love to add these to my stash.
ReplyDeleteLove those, I really like combining lots of different backgrounds to make a more interesting quilt!
ReplyDeleteONE never has enough backgrounds , creams and tans
ReplyDeleteI would be thrilled to win and am sure they would be added to the multiple quilts I am working on now :)
thanks for such a generous giveaway
Kathie
Definitely always room for background fabrics! I just watched my son pull out of the driveway going back to college...on the other side of the country! I'm in VA and he is in school in CO! I miss him already! I better head to my sewing room for some fabric therapy!
ReplyDeleteI NEED lights for a quilt I'm working on now!!
ReplyDeletePick me ! Light up my life;)
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I am a background fabric kind of gal! These colors are so warm and inviting! They certainly are appropriate for this time of year. Thank you for your kind heart of generosity! :)
ReplyDeleteWhen we stay at our mountain trailer I don't take a lot of extra boxes to bring stuff home in and end up using lots of the black garbage bags for dirty clothes, overflow kitchen supplies, arts and crafts, just about anything, including the garbage. Then just before we turn onto the highway we stop at the public garbage bins. I've lost more stuff there! Hubby just grabs black bags and tosses and by the time I've got everything packed, I'm mostly brain dead! Now I try to separate better and also use white garbage bags for my keep til we get homes. Love the fabric. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI go through lights and neutrals faster than anything, and I love scrappy. Your purged fabrics would be welcome in my home.
ReplyDeleteI'm in the middle of collecting fabric for an incredible autumn wall hanging quilt and can you believe I went to my favorite quilt store and nothing! I just needed a really good neutral for some flying geese and not one to be found!
ReplyDeleteI just started my first scrap quilt and discovered that I need more background fabrics. Quilting is my therapy! Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteGetting a happy in the mail is always a fun thing. I'll keep my eyes peeled!
ReplyDeletenice fabrics and love these give-aways. What a nice thing for you to do.....so, I guess quilting is like a drug or ADDICTION....just start and you are hooked. Always am looking for that right piece of fabric!
ReplyDeleteThanks
I really need some background fabrics in my stash as aim a relatively new, quilter, 2 years.
ReplyDeleteI've been using almost all neutrals as backgrounds lately, Love them.
ReplyDeleteThose black plastic bags can be mistaken for garbage. Watch out. Would love to win some of you lovely backgrounds. Thanks
ReplyDeleteWow!!! Thank you for your generosity!!! I would treasure your hand me downs!!! Thank you for the wonderful opportunity!!! :)
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about the Mystery of the Disappearing Black Bag! My Mom has a similar story of a plaque on the wall that also disappeared. When she asked my Dad, a funny look came over his face, but he denied all knowledge of the plaque. She thinks it fell on the floor and broke and he just swept it up and threw it away not thinking it could be repaired and re-hung. My brothers also denied any knowledge. I was off the hook, away at college. Thanks so much for your generosity - I could really use some backgrounds for my Jamestown Crossing quilt from the Bonnie Hunter workshop this weekend.
ReplyDeleteSo generous of you to free this fabric so that someone else (hopefully me) can give it life in a quilt.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
Thank you for a chance to win. I am lacking light background fabrics. I always tend to choose the more exciting midtones. I have made a rule for myself that when I go fabric shopping I have to buy at least one FQ of light fabric.
ReplyDeletePLease toss my name into the 'hat'.... and thank you for sharing your over-flow.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE what the internet has given to us quilters! The inspirations never end
I have really been wanting to make a low volume quilt and this would make the perfect start.
ReplyDeleteYea for backgrounds! Always needed! Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteIt's always fun to play with another quilters stash.
ReplyDelete
