Chef is code word so that our families think we are spending more time in the kitchen than in the sewing room.
Why I am on the hop? Because I had the honor of compiling this project. However I did not do it alone. I had lots of help from Angela Yosten and Jenny Garland who helped hatch the entire project.
I also wanted to give a shout out to Chelair Etter who took care of making sure each chef had the ingredients necessary to complete their project. Thanks also to the great crew at Stash Books for putting together such a great book that can be used throughout the year.
The book was started a year and a half ago so to see the actual book and the great projects inside is such a great surprise to see how it all came together.
Throughout the hop you will see a few of the projects in the book so I am not going to duplicate those images. However I am going to show you the pages titled, Celebrate the Designers. That is really what this blog hop is all about, celebrating the designers and all the work they put into this project. I am lucky enough to have my hands on an early copy of the book. I also have many pages flagged for the projects that I want to make!
If you are a storeowner, you can meet some of the chefs at market. They will be there doing a book signing in the United Notions booth.
If you are coming to Quilt Festival in Houston, there will be a Moda Bake Shop booth, showcasing some of the projects from the book as well as all the projects online at the bakeshop.
Leave a comment telling me what your favorite part of quilting is and I will draw a winner for this little bag of treats that includes 8 different 2 1/2" charm packs called Moda Candy.
My recipe is from a friend of mine, Debbie Outlaw. The recipe has been around for so long no one knew what it's original name was............so I took the liberty to rename it, Outlaw's Pumpkin Muffins.
here is a link to the recipe.

I enjoy the quilting the best. I mostly hand quilt. jillfroelicy@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI am new to quilting. The best part for me so far is picking the fabric. There are so many beautiful Moda fabrics. It's like the fabric speaks to you. And the colors... The quilt shop near me is like a big candy store. Yum, yum...
ReplyDeleteI love hand stitching down the binding.... the satisfaction of putting in that last stitch and knowing that I have worked hard to create my quilt. the book looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is piecing. I love seeing it all come together a little bit at a time.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is hand sewing on the binding. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy quilting because I get to use gorgeous fabric, pick patterns or the challenge of creating your own pattern. Sewing is calming and then to see your creativity turn into a cosy quilt to snuggle under. Thanks for giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI love fabric selection the best...seeing all those colors & designs makes my heart happy!! I'll be trying those pumpkin mini muffins for thanksgiving!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is planning and dreaming about the finished product, along with touching and handling the fabrics!

I especially love the end result, but every part of quilting is great. Picking the fabric, cutting it all out, then sewing it together, then finally getting to use it. It all just great!
ReplyDeleteFor me, the absolute best part is hand sewing the binding down. It is so relaxing and there is such a sense of accomplishment getting the project finished.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is picking the fabric! I guess because that's the easy part. It is getting harder, though, because there are so many beautiful fabrics out there now!
ReplyDeleteI love quilting because of the fabrics and patterns. Choosing the perfect one from oh-so-many gorgeous fabrics is quite a challenge and then matching them to the pattern is what I would want to do every day!
ReplyDeleteFabric selection is definitely my favorite! Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteI have to say that fabric collecting is my favorite part of quilting, then the piecing--watching it all come together. The hardest part is choosing which fabric to use for which project......so many beautiful possibilities!
ReplyDeleteI love the cutting (although I cut the tip of my thumb off - ouch) and I love the quilting part too! Oh wait, maybe it is the fabric high I get from buying fabric that I love the best!
ReplyDeleteI love to piece, but do not enjoy quilting. I quilt by check (stole that from somebody). The quilting process stresses me out and it isn't fun anymore. I admire all those longarmers out there. I am a piecer and a fabric hoarder.
ReplyDeleteI love all parts of quilting, but one of my favorites is the binding!
ReplyDeleteThat is just the cutest idea for a book....... Those mini charms are the cutest too! Thanks for the chance to win them. My favorite part of quilting is choosing the fabrics - sooooo many choices - yum!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely my favorite part is seeing the fabrics come to life in each block when it is completed.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite bit is the quilting and also handing over the gift to whoever it was intended :)
ReplyDeleteQuilting is so relaxing to me, I love to sew all the pieces together to see the finished product in someone elses hands!
ReplyDeleteI love the fabric--feeling it, cutting it, sewing it--all of it! And, I love giving my projects to special people.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is hand-sewing on the binding....because it means the quilt is finished!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of quilting is putting all of the finished blocks together. I just LOVE when the quilt top comes together!!!!
ReplyDeletemummyquilts@gmail.com
Picking out the fabric is my favorite part. I love playing with all that color and the different options that open up.
ReplyDeletePersonally I love it all but hand work is what I enjoy the most
ReplyDeleteI love hand work, but my favorite part is FINSIHING! I'm not so good at that.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is seeing my fabric selections come together to make the block.
ReplyDeleteWhen I walk into the quilting room I feel a sense of piece and serenity. I think that's my favorite part of quilting.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of quilting is cutting up the fabric and putting it together. It's like a big puzzle. Thanks for the recipe, and for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is looking at it and using it when it's all finished. Love seeing it at the end!
ReplyDeleteThere isn't much I don't like yet, but putting that final stitch in the binding is such a good feeling!
ReplyDeletei love love love the binding!
ReplyDeleteoooh hmmm I have a serious love affair with needle-turn applique...but my most favorite part of 'quilting' is a finished quilt or quiltlet full of my love stitched into it.
ReplyDeleteI'm a brand new quilter and the joy for me is in piecing, trying to get those points to match!
ReplyDeletemy favorite part of the quilting process is the generations of wonderful people - my great-grandmother, my granny, my mom, me, my girls, and hopefully future generations that take bits of fabric and sew it all together into something of beauty and comfort.
ReplyDeleteI think my favorite part of quilting is FABRIC SHOPPING! Ha ha, no I really enjoy the piecing and the quilting!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy choosing the fabric and piecing by hand. So therapeutic because I have an autoimmune disease and I found that touching beautiful fabric helps me forget that I can't breathe or the pain I feel. Thank you for a lovely giveaway. Moda is my favorite fabric and my BFF. :)
ReplyDeleteYou have an idea in mind and then the actual quilt is made and then you get to see for yourself the expression of love on the recipent. That says a lot - for you and for that person. Moda and all of the chefs have done a lot of hard work to make this book so priceless and to be looked at over and over again. Thank you for the recipe, a chance to win a copy of the book and those charm packs of Moda candy.

My favorite part is taking the quilt from the dryer andseeing the magic of the 'wrinkles'!!
ReplyDeleteGreat looking recipe. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI guess my answer now may change after I've done more quilts, but because I just finished my very first larger sized quilt ever, I'd say the challenge and overcoming any that popped up during the making of it was the most fun. I love challenging myself to do/learn new things. I really love how the quilt turned out.
so cute!! I much prefer piecing than anything. I love to chain piece since you invest little time for alot of production value! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI love picking the fabric! It is all about the colors and textures for me. Thank you for such a great recipe!
ReplyDeletePicking out the fabric is my favorite part. That is why I got into quilting in the first place!
ReplyDeleteI love all the stages of quilting. Shopping for fabric is really fun, but the part I love best is trimming up blocks right after I've pieced them. {I used to skip that step, but it really improves my results, and the blocks look so clean and impressive.}
ReplyDeletePiecing is my favorite part of quilting.
ReplyDeleteMing (mdai97@yahoo.com)
My favourite part is sewing the top together. Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is the sewing and putting th blocks together. Hate the ironing. Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteI think my favorite is developing a concept and then sitting at the sewing machine.
ReplyDeleteIt is fun to see an idea become a real thing.
The part when you put the finished quilt on the bed and settle down for a long sleep. Before that, hard to choose between choosing the fabrics, hand applique or hand quilting, but I think hand quilting wins.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is matching the fabrics with my favorite patterns. SEW fun!!!
ReplyDeletePicking the fabrics is my favorite part. I have yet to see any of those cute little Moda candies in person, but I would sure love to.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of quilting is the final stitches of the binding! HA! Actually, I really enjoy choosing fabrics; trying to decide what goes where and how you want the quilt to look!
ReplyDeleteI love choosing the fabric and the sewing. And ten, honestly, my tops tent to lay around a while before I quilt them ... let's just say my quilting skills are upgradeable;-) Thanks and greetings from germany, Hildy
ReplyDeletehildy(at)ebertzeder(dot)de
I love binding....it's the cherry on top and the last mile of the road. And you get to snuggle the new quilt while you're doing it;-)
ReplyDeleteI love seeing the designs come together. After choosing the fabrics, I always think I know what something will look like, but it's almost always better! And completing the blocks is so satisfying.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is cutting and piecing, because I love playing around with all those tidy little stacks of fabric.
ReplyDeleteMy Favorite part of Quilting is stash diving.
ReplyDeleteMy husband tolerates me, but every
bit of avaiable surface area is
covered in fabrics so can be
assureed just the right ones are
used and so i can make a list of additional fabric I need to buy.
I love the designing of the quilts. Pulling fabrics together is a blast. I can put fabric together that people would never think of using.and people just love them.
ReplyDeletePicking out the fabrics - there are always so many beautiful choices!
ReplyDeleteI love the coming together part! And choosing fabrics, and finishing that binding, I think what I enjoy is free motion quilting. Mmmmm there is quite a lot I like about quilting!
ReplyDeleteI love picking the fabrics best.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is picking the design and the perfect fabric to go along with it. There are just so many possibilities!
ReplyDeleteI love the design process: choosing a pattern/block(s), picking and fondling fabrics...ahhhh
ReplyDeletePlanning is the most fun, I think! I love just imagining how different patterns would look in different fabrics-- have lost many hours of sleep doing such "imagining"! LOL
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this fun hop! I'm loving all the yummy recipes-- both edible and not! :-) Outlaw's Pumpkin Mini Muffins sound delicious-- and I love that they're so quick and easy to make! I'm saving this recipe-- I think it will be my contribution to our family's Thanksgiving dessert table this year! :-)
My favorite part of quilting besides the actual motions of doing so, is the satisfaction I get when I'm able to say, "I did that." I created that beautiful quilt that could possibly last for generations. But also because quilting is therapeutic for me, I find solace in the petting and cutting of beautiful soft fabrics, and the hum of my sewing machine.
ReplyDeleteThank you for giving us the chance to win!
Your recipe sounds delicious and I can't wait to try it!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of quilting is hard to name because I enjoy the whole process. I'm designing a baby quilt right now around fabric that my daughter chose. I loved shopping with her. And I'll enjoy putting it together and quilting it. I just like the whole process!
Thanks so much for the recipe and giveaway! I've been on the hunt for a new pumpkin recipe, and who doesn't love things in "mini!" My favorite part of quilting is watching the idea go from my head, to design wall, to real thing! LOVE watching it all come together!
ReplyDeleteI love piecing the best!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is pulling the finished quilt out of the dryer. Nothing better than that crinkly goodness!
ReplyDeleteI have two parts that are my favorite. First the creative aspect of it. Then it's the comradery of the quilting community.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is piecing!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
Thanks for all your hard work, and the team, for creating this book. It's so nice to know you support the designers and the work that you all do.
ReplyDeleteWhatever part I'm working on at the moment tends to be my favorite part--except the cutting I'm not a huge fan of. I also enjoy the relaxing-ness of hand quilting.
ReplyDeleteMinha parte favorita,é escolha dos tecidos e a cada bloco pronto é uma festa.Mas gosto muito de ver pronta.Obrigada.tiacarminhapezzuto@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of quilting is hand piecing. I love to stitch the pieces together while I am watching television in the evenings. I also love color combinations and just looking at all of the lovely fabrics. I could easily become a fabric hoarder. EASILY!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of quilting is getting that first block finished. Then I can see if my color and pattern choices are going to give the results I was hoping for. Sometimes I'm surprised by what shows up
ReplyDeleteI enjoy the piecing. Nothing better than hearing the hum of my sewing machine.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of quilting is piecing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway. I can't wait to see the Sweet Celebrations book.
I like all the process of quilting but what I really love is planning a quilt... drawing it and calculating the measures of each part of each block... it's fun!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the giveaway!

My favorite part of quilting is all of the friends I've made. We've become a very close group!
ReplyDeleteI love cutting the fabric and sewing it back together.
ReplyDeleteI think my favorite part of quilting is the piecing together of a quilt. I like seeing a quilt come together piece by piece. Thanks for the giveaway and the recipe.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of quilting is the process of cutting up pieces of fabric into little pieces only to sew them back together into something wonderful! It is so relaxing and for someone that has a stressful job sewing is the best medicine!
ReplyDeleteTonya
My favorite part of quilting is seeing yards of fabric become a beautiful quilt. It still amazes me every time I finish a quilt.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite parts of quilting are the beginning (choosing a pattern and selecting fabrics) and the end (admiring and enjoying the finished project). Of course, I also enjoy the I between!
ReplyDeleteI would say my favorite part of making a quilt would be at the point where you really get to see how the quilt is going to come together.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, my very favorite part of the quilting process (after the shopping!) is the quilting. I am a machine quilter and I love to quilt.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the opportunity to win!
I love all parts of quilting, but my absolute favorite is hand sewing on bindings. I find it very relaxing and it means the quilt is almost ready to use! :)
ReplyDeleteWell got to admit the best part is getting an idea and then shopping for the fabrics for it! Least amont of work! But do like the rest of it too, its supposed to be fun not work and most of the time is. So many great fabrics out now, too much to choose from. Love the book, thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteI think my favorite part of quilting is the variety. When I tire of cutting I can sit and piece for a while and then quilt if piecing begins to wear on me. That's why I have several projects going at once in various stages of development! I love Moda and would love to be entered in the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of quilting is the finished product - the steps leading up to the finish are necessary but the finished product is the best!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of quilting is how on the days my body allows me to sew, the very second I walk into my sewing room to start working on whatever is on the agenda that day, or fondle a new fabric, or just absorb myself in looking at patterns, every trouble, all the stress of life, everything that has to do with the Scleroderma that has taken up residence in my body...is forgotten. I completely relax and I never look at a clock, nor worry about time. I don't need pain meds, or meds to settle down the battle going on inside me. I just pull out parts of my meager stash (I've only been quilting 4 years, since I lost the ability to do the intricate handwork I loved so much)) and dream of projects I will do with the fabrics I have. It is my refuge from the little vicissitudes of life as I know it and I love every thing about it. Big hugs and I have to wish good luck to everyone because we are all hoping and to win some of this wonderful quilting treasure and no matter who it goes to, it will bring some "Happy" with it! Thanks for the chance. Big Hugs...
ReplyDeleteI like to pick my next pattern and the fabrics, but I love using my sewing machine! Guiding the pieces through gives me peace and satisfaction.
ReplyDeleteI love getting to see the recipient's reaction. Most recently was my 3 year old who received her quilt that had been in progress for 2 years. She was ecstatic!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is binging, for sure. Thanks for hopping!
ReplyDeleteWithout a doubt, my favorite part of quilting is putting the last stitch on the binding. Thank you for the contest.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of quilting that's easy I LOVE everything about quilting EXCEPT trimming threads! I admit, I do like selecting fabrics best of all! :)
ReplyDeletesowingstitches [at] yahoo [dot] com
Mmmmm.... Pumpkin muffins! My favorite part of quilting is sewing on the binding. I love to see everything come together!
ReplyDeleteGosh, it's hard to pick a favorite part, but I'll say piecing the blocks. This looks like a great book and I'm enjoying the blog hop. Thanks for the chance to win some treats!
ReplyDeleteI love picking the fabrics and pattern that suit the recipient. In that way I can make sure that my "girly" friends and my more "modern" pals each get something that they will love!
ReplyDeletemy favorite part of quilting is piecing it together. I love watching how all the small pieces fit together make such a beautiful design! Muffins look good!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of quilting is putting the binding on and seeing the finished creation.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of the quilting is the actual quiltting itself, that too I love free-motion quilt. I could just do that for all day :-).
ReplyDeleteLove these candies from Moda.
Difficult to say what I like most, I think it's because you do so many different things (choosing fabric, a pattern, cutting, sewing, quilting) that I like quilting. I like everything! Okay, except sandwiching.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of quilting is planning what I'm going to make and buying the fabric.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of quilting is the "done" part. I like playing with the fabric, cutting & piecing, everything but the sandwich. But when you put the last stitch in the binding, pull it out of the dryer, smooth it out so you can see the whole thing DONE. What a feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of quilting is shopping for the fabric! I'm a newer quilter and haven't had the opportunity to buy much beyond what I need for the current project. I also love the part where I get to gift the quilt to someone!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the opportunity to win!
My favorite part is cutting out and sewing that first block. Such anticipation.
ReplyDeleteI new to quilting and don't have a completed quilt yet, but right now my favorite part is dreaming of all of the quilts I want to make! Thanks for sharing your recipe and for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI know this is a bit weird...but I really love hand stitching the binding on after attaching to the front. It's when I can curl up in the chair and be quiet.
ReplyDeleteI like looking for just the right fabrics for a project & then enjoy the piecing, too. I just made Speck by Miss Rosie & am anxious to get some more candy charms so I can make another one.
ReplyDeleteI love when the quilt starts coming together and then... when it's even better than you imagined it would be! :) The new little candy pre-cuts are so cute!

ReplyDeleteI think my favorite part of the quilting process is picking out the fabric and then watching it turn into what I hoped it would be!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of quilting is choosing which fabrics will enjoy getting together to grace my new project. I would like to design them someday as I really love changing the colors around and I see the difference each color makes. The new project is always a huge draw. I'm excited to see the new Moda Candy packs, too.
ReplyDeleteGreat compilation of projects. Thank you for all the work putting it together! And those muffins look yum! My favourite part is definitely quilting the top - I have far too many completed quilt tops waiting to be finished!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of quilting is picking out the fabric.
ReplyDeleteThose muffins look yummy. Thank you for the recipe. I look forward to making them.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy all phases of quilting, but I really like to "celebrate" finishes. So, I'll say the finishing is the best.
SewCalGal

My favorite part of quilting has to be selecting the fabric for a quilt idea. I love to be in a quilt shop--feeling the fabric, mixing colors, talking with others about choices--just to be "transported" from the everyday.
ReplyDeleteThanks for organizing the blog hop. I look forward to adding Sweet Celebrations to my library.
my favorite part is sewing the pieces together!

ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is probably making the blocks and seeing it all come together. Second favorite is finishing the binding, because that means I'm finally done!

ReplyDeletejoanoh at cinci dot rr dot com
I enjoy making the blocks but my favorite part is looking at the finished quilt as I feel it's quite an accomplishment. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteChoosing designs and fabrics. I am still working on my first ever quilt but I already have fabrics and designs coming out of my ears. I am sure I will never live long enough to make all the things I am inspired by in my lifetime
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is designing my own patterns. While I love to use other people's patterns, I like to design my own when the quilt is going to a special person. I think it makes it more of a personal gift when my creativity goes into the whole project. I draw the line at making my own thread & fabric though. Gotta get real at some point.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is piecing. I like watching the quilt come together.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for a chance at the give-away. My favourite part of the quilt is the piecing. I love "construction" of all sorts so this the bee knees for me!

ReplyDeleteMy very favorite part of quilting is laying out my fabrics and watching how the design, textures and colors play on each other. Then cutting the fabric to keep all those elements flowing. I love the fabrics part so much sometimes its hard to cut a favorite piece up.
ReplyDeleteI'm new to quilting so I have to say choosing fabric and finding out that the block you made was done right.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy seeing the blocks emerge as I piece them. I also like laying out the blocks as well.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I'm not sure I can pick a favorite part - - I LOVE it all!! ReplyDeleteI'm fairly new to quilting so all parts of creating a quilt are a thrill to me. Having help picking out fabric (since I'm new to this) and then WOW watching it all come together and being so proud. Know my Grandmother would be proud, she was my quilter.
ReplyDeleteI'm new to quilting, but my favourite part is piecing. Piece after piece and you can see something nice coming up, it is a bit like embroidery (not the cross stitch), when every few minutes a little flower pops up.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is piecing. It's instant gratification. :-)
ReplyDeleteI love choosing the fabrics and picturing how they will look in a project.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of quilting is sewing. I hate to pick out color's because I'm not very good at it and it causes so much stress, and cutting is so boaring.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy finishing it up by hand sewing the binding :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part cutting the last thread of the binding and holding up the finished quilt ~ just a wonderful feeling especially when my grandaughters are there to wrap themselves in it ~
ReplyDeleteI can't pick just one - I love to decide how to cut each piece of beautiful fabric, down to the final hand stitch on the border. So I guess I like the beginning and the finish! Thanks for the chance to win!
