Mini Book Review and Giveaway

I am honored to be included in Moose on the Porch's Book review and giveaway.
Konda has done it again with Simply Charming- Mini's.
With fun quilt names like

On Pinterest I saw this picture from greylustergirl.blogspot.com. She basically framed her thread rack.
I have always dreamed of a wall of pictures like this but that got me to thinking, what about a wall of mini quilts? How fun would that be? I guess this would cost a bit more than new wallpaper but it wouldn't be near as fun as making a wall of Minis!

Mini quilts could make great placemats or tabletoppers.

We have a standalone pantry (I plan to be buried in it, I love it so) in our kitchen; it would be so fun to hang them on the side walls or even the doors to make it a decorative element in addition to being a killer functional one.

I do minis for swaps - my collection is a 'wall art' of sorts and I change it with the seasons. Also, make them for doll quilts for charity.

ReplyDeleteThe hallway leading to the bedrooms and bath in my home has family pictures lining both sides but it would be awesome to break up pictures with some mini quilts. I had already been thinking of doing just that. Great minds think alike I guess. I don't have near the amount of family pictures as those you've shown. Wow. That is A LOT of pictures lining those walls.
ReplyDeleteLove your idea for the wall of minis!! I display mini quilts on the inside of my front door! It's metal and I use large magnets in pockets on the back of the quilt to display them! I would love to make some more!!

ReplyDeleteWhen Hubbie and I first got married (way way back in the 80's) we started a wedding wall up along the stairs. For several years we had great fun adding pictures of friends and family as they got married. Everyone loved to come round and see their picture in our gallery. And as we all started having babies and they grew up they loved to find Mummy and Daddy in the gallery. Sadly as the years have passed and some couples have grown apart and separated, gaps have appeared so it would be lovely to fill the gaps with mini quilts :)

ReplyDeleteBut I think that they would be good to cover up the holes in the plaster on the walls. After all no-one would look behind a quilt, they would be too busy admiring the beauty on the front.
I have a wall with a mini quilt on it right now. My plan is to switch the quilt periodically so this book would be a great help for that.

I don't know why, but I have never made a mini quilt! Insane! I love the idea of mini quilts (quick finish!) and a mini quilt wall is a wonderful idea. I think I would hang some in the nursery and some in the playroom as well as my sewing area. Thanks for the giveaway!

I liked the idea of framing your thread spools, looks really neat and tidy. The wall of mini quilts is a great idea, it would be fun to try new techniques and learn new blocks. ReplyDeleteI have a twin size quilt hanging in my hall (it's an area where no one walks) that is open to the cathedral ceiling of our living room. Instead of the one large quilt, I think it would be great to have a grouping of mini quilts. With a few seasonal quilts added in that could be swapped out at various times during the year.

Currently I have a couple of mini quilt table toppers. I have a couple that I would like to make and use as wall hangings. I have Big Block Quilts by Konda Luckau and absolutely love it. Simple but very rewarding quilts.
