Veteran's Day

On this Veteran's Day I wanted to share with you 2 of my favorite things, Flags and Quilts.
You can only imagine how thrilled I was to see this exhibit at Quilt Festival.
America Collects Quilts: Patriotic Quilts from the Collection of Cindy Rennels.
Enjoy these wonderful pieces and a moment of silence.
Celebrate America!

This was a great exhibit. There was also a flag quilt made in a crazy quilt version that was extraordinary. Having dinner with my veteran tonight.

Those are wonderful! My first real quilt I made was in junior high school and it was a red, white and blue quilt. I love the colors, and I love the fact that they stand for our country.

Oh my! A wonderful post. My husband, a Vietnam Vet celebrated the Marine Corps birthday at a very nice luncheon on November 10th. We had a great time and were so delighted that what started 4 years ago with 3 Marine Corps friends having lunch together on that special day, has grown to over 40 Marine's both veterans and active duty at home on leave. There was even a 91 year old World War II Marine there and there wasn't a dry eye when he was called forward to take the first slice of cake. We were stunned...and a bit cramped for space (and happy about that too) due to the wonderful turn out. But even more special was yesterday. Our phone was ringing off the hook all day, something that doesn't happen in our house. Every call was a family member or friend wanting to thank my husband for his service and wishing him a "Wonderful Veteran's Day". It could not have been a better day. He was deeply touched. This is the first year in the many that have passed, that this has happened and at times, he couldn't even speak to the caller he was so overwhelmed. Remembering is so very important because as they say..."Freedom isn't Free". It comes at a very high cost and I am so thankful to all those who have served to keep me free and secure in my safety. God Bless each and every one of you.
